

Season Three of Vocal Edge launched on 17th January 2016 and auditions for the season reached a record 1212 submissions, with 799 people receiving enough votes to get into the competition.

Season Three grew the team further, with six judges, and a complement of eight coaches - two of which were revealed as a second chance twist after Round Six.

For the third consecutive season, Vocal Edge offered multiple
Optional Challenges, with direct Round 1 bonus points,
with more chances available to early auditioners.
We also offered a bonus to any returning competitor from previous seaasons...

Round One - Country
The contestants were challenged to sing a song from the country music genre.
530/799 songs were submitted, and of those 51 people scored a full 20 points for their song.
The battle had truly begun with a stunning display of talent!

Round Two - Hard Rock
From one extreme to the other - we challenged the contestants to go straight from relaxed, emotional country, directly to rocking out with some of the Hard Rock genre.
43 perfect scores were received in this round of the competition, again displaying the high standard of the season.

Gone, Not Forgotten
The next challenge was to sing a song by an artist who had passed away, remembering talent gone before us.
Fantastic submittions were heard, not only from the legends like Whitney and MJ, but also from more unexpected avenues, such as Jim Croce and Bob Marley.
This round featured 42 perfect scores.

Round Four - Acoustic Harmony
Next up...
An acoustic challenge, in which the had to be at least 30 seconds of continuous three-part harmony.
29 contestants displayed perfect harmony, and led the pack through to the next round.

Round Five - Double Trouble
Songs from Glee... and the solo careers of the Spice Girls... Wow.
Although people were completely thrown by the fact that
The Spice Girls even HAD Solo careers, there were 8 perfect Spice songs, and 17 perfect Glee songs

Round Six - Battle Round
With Pot Luck themes against another team, and songs picked without knowing who the opponent would be, this round brought a WHOLE new meaning to the competition, where ranking was irrelevant to your safety and only the victor was safe...
UNLESS...
IMMUNITY????
#TeamMax won immunity based on their combined total score, showing themselves as the most consistent team.
#TeamBenny also won immunity, because Benny herself emerged victorious from a battle between the coaches, winning immunity for her flock.

A hidden twist was announced with the results, revealing two secret coaches into the competition, who each got to choose 5 eliminated contestants for the ultimate second chance, creating their very own underdog teams.

Round Seven - Euro Idol
Vocal Edge has participants from all over the world, and sometimes, online competitions seem to be heavily weighted towards the USA, with genres such as country music being much more well known in that region.
For Round seven, we decided to even the score a little...
The Top 50 were tasked with singing a song released by any WINNER of American Idol, and also any entry for the
Eurovision Song Contest

Round Eight - Love/Hate
This round asked the contestants to tap into their emotional extremes, and to sing songs based on love and hate.
We had SIX perfect love songs, and FIVE perfect hate songs... however, NOBODY got a perfect score across both entries.

Semi-Finals - 90s Mashups
The Semi-Finalists were tasked with creating mashups of at least three songs.
Their mashups had to consist ONLY of 90s songs, and had to have a clear defined theme...
Examples produced included: "Sex Songs of the 90s",
"90s Disney" and "90s Country Music"

Finals - Beat The Rest: Part One
Part One of the finals required the finalists to sing a song which had been performed by another of the remaining finalists, at some point in the competition so far.

Finals - Beat The Rest: Part Two
The Top three contestants from Part One, Billy, Nick and Fitta then had to perform the ultimate victory song,

With a PERFECT score from all five judges, Fitta was crowned the champion of Season 3, with Nick as the runner up, based on running totals, after a tie with 3rd place Billy.
